About The Last Used Car Lot in America
The Last Used Car Lot in America is a poignant, contemporary musical that explores the lives of people working at Diamond Motors, a family-owned used car dealership facing an uncertain future in a rapidly changing world. This is a musical love letter to a disappearing way of American life.
At the heart of the musical is the Diamond Motors family: Ashley Martini, a mid-40s businesswoman experiencing love for the first time; her business partner Al Klein, a devoted divorced father; Al’s 18-year-old son Freddy, who drops out of music school to work at the lot; and Barb, Al’s ex-wife devastated by her son’s choice to embrace the salesman’s life she rejected years ago. Together with their dealership family of salespeople and mechanics, they navigate personal relationships and professional challenges in a world that’s leaving them behind.

As a TV showrunner, writer, and producer, Joel Surnow launched four new TV hour dramas that went on to become massive, international hits: “Miami Vice,” “The Equalizer,” “La Femme Nikita”…and the show he co-created, “24.” He has won Emmys for Best Drama and Best Dramatic Writing, a Golden Globe for Best Drama, a Producer of the Year award from the PGA, a Best Writer of the Year award from the Hollywood Caucus, and a Wired Rave award for being one of the “People changing your mind.”
TV and Film composer Sean Callery has received 17 Emmy Nominations with 4 wins, making him one of the most accomplished composers of all time. Over the past 25 years, Mr. Callery has scored, among others, the hit series “24”, “Homeland” “Bones”, “Designated Survivor”, “The Kennedys” and “Marvel’s Jessica Jones.” He is the recipient of 8 BMI awards and 12 ASCAP awards.
Andy Fickman is an award-winning director, writer, and producer whose work spans mediums. He recently directed Heathers the Musical, which wrapped a record-breaking, sold-out run at The Other Palace in London, as well as three sold-out West End runs and three successful UK/Ireland tours. This summer, Heathers will relaunch Off-Broadway in New York. This fall, he’s preparing to open the musical adaptation of the hit film 13 Going on 30 in the UK, followed immediately by the musical adaptation of Disney’s Freaky Friday. Fickman directed Reefer Madness: The Musical in Los Angeles and New York, then directed and produced the Emmy-award-winning film version for Showtime. His many film credits include “Parental Guidance,” “The Game Plan,” “You Again,” “Race to Witch Mountain,” “Playing with Fire,” and “She’s the Man.”
