Frequently Asked Questions

Ashland is approximately 655 miles from Santa Barbara. The drive is a little over 10-hours each way. The closest airport is Medford (MFR), about 20 minutes’ drive from the hotel. There are direct flights out of Los Angeles or connecting flights out of Santa Barbara. Depending on the groups’ travel schedules, we may offer group ground transportation from the airport to the hotel but ground transport is not guaranteed. We will provide a list of taxis and ground transportation options to the hotel.  Any other travel arrangements are not included in the price of the trip. We are considering a private for-hire bus to make the round-trip from Santa Barbara to Ashland. If this is of interest to you please contact development@etcsb.org for more information.

While we are attending the Oregon “Shakespeare” Festival– OSF has grown beyond simply producing Shakespeare and has become a pioneer of presenting both classical and contemporary plays in innovative and daring ways, helmed by some of the most sought-after artists in the industry. 3 of the 6 productions playing during our visit will be Shakespeare plays (2 of the 5 we have chosen to include in our base package, and the third, MACBETH, is an optional add-on). CORIOLANUS is a brand new modern-verse translation and MUCH ADO a music-filled production on OSF’s outdoor Elizabethan stage… these promise to be Shakespeare as you have never seen him before! (And to let you in on a little secret… 2 of the non-Shakespeare plays are under consideration for future ETC seasons, so you’ll have the opportunity for an extra special sneak peek). Feel free to browse the many resources available on OSF website for more detailed background on the plays.

Unfortunately we are unable to tailor specific play packages to individuals as we receive group rates from OSF’s ticket office. We encourage attendance at all of the plays to get the most out of your group experience. However if there is a play you know you would NOT like to attend we are happy to apply the cost of that particular ticket to the donation portion of your trip.

The theater, restaurants, downtown Ashland shops and beautiful Lithia Park are all within walking distance of the Hotel. ETC will provide group transportation for the “off-campus” trip to the winery, but any other local travel is up to the travelers’ discretion. Please let us know if you require an accessible room or seat at the theater.
